DISCUSSION 1

Analyzing the character of Miss Trunchbull from the NOVEL called Matilda. and compare it on a qualities of being a teacher: being  a caring, accountable, critically reflective, responsible and an educational practitioner who is able to support and nurture learning and development in diverse educational contexts.
Miss Trunchbull did not care about the well being of the children as you can see on the above picture she is holding a learner with his leg,  this is not a right way to discipline a child, not according to the constitution and code of conduct of teachers. In the novel, chapter "The Trunchbull" page 66 (e book)  the writer also state the qualities of a teacher; "They understand children and they have the children's best interests at heart. They are sympathetic. They are fair and they are deeply interested in education. Miss Trunchbull possessed none of these qualities and how she ever got her present job was a mystery."

Miss Trunchbull did not uphold her responsibility which are the learners for an example she threw a learner outside a window. when learners are at school, the teachers are responsible for them. She is not critically reflective like  Miss Honey. Miss Honey was able to recognize Matilda who was a genius and had supernatural powers, she acted pro-active by going to Miss Trunchbull as a headmistress to see if they can do something about this instead Miss Trunchbull did not care, she care about how she going to punish the child if she gets naughty.
Not being responsible Miss Trunchbull is not accountable, she is the only one who makes decisions and no one has a say, that means she is not answerable,  responsible and reporting. this are qualities of a person who is accountable which Miss Trunchbull do not have.
